Welcome to the phsc humanities page Year 7 The Year 7 SOSE course focuses on introducing students to the concept of History by learning how historians gain, analyse & draw conclusions from evidence. It involves them studying the history of their local area and ancient civilizations such as Sumer, Egypt, Greece, Rome. Students also learn geographical concepts about how natural processes and human activities have changed environments both natural and human. They learn about how environments can become sustainable and are involved in projects to that end. Year 8 In Year 8 students learn about the medieval world in Europe, the Middle East and Japan. They then go on to study life during the Renaissance and Reformation. Students learn advanced mapping skills and use the College’s weather station to study issues about weather and its effects in detail. Sustainability issues are of particular focus in a study of Rainforests. Year 9 The Year 9 course examines about a century of Australia's
