The PHSC library, at the heart of the school, is a welcoming space that supports students and staff to be effective users of information.

The library empowers students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers and ethical users of information. We achieve this by building and managing a high quality collection that supports and promotes teaching and learning, information literacy and a culture of reading. The striking physical space is managed and maintained to uphold these goals.

Staff are dedicated to creating an inviting, accessible and stimulating learning environment.

Our library meets the PHSC school community needs and actively promotes a culture of reading through many and varied ways, including:
• Housing and managing the PHSC library’s physical and digital collection of information resources
• Providing students and staff with a meeting place, safe place, before & after school social space and games space
• Providing a warm environment for collaborative learning and group study
• Welcoming, encouraging and supporting recreational reading and quiet study
• Accommodating and supporting 2 classroom spaces
• Hosting, managing and inviting library-related events (e.g. author talks, book club) and lunchtime activities (e.g. poetry slam)
• Creating and maintaining an adaptable space for staff meetings and student assemblies
• Providing a large space for school community events and activities (e.g. parent/teacher conferences, information evenings)
• Acting as a venue for accredited courses and professional development conferences.

This vibrant hub of activity is greatly loved by students and staff. We invite you to visit and welcome feedback from the PHSC community to keep our place at the heart of the school.
