In 2024, PHSC introduced house systems and with this we wished to represent and
strengthen our connection to indigenous culture and knowledge. Through this house system, our aim is to acknowledge and recognize all the amazing achievements and positive contributions the students make in our school.

After contacting the Wurundjeri Land council with our request, Aunty Doreen graciously gave permission to use Woiwurrung animal names. The school community then voted for the following names:

Bunjil: Eagle (Blue)
Muk Muk: Owl (Yellow)
Gurrng-Gurrng: Kookaburra (Green)
Waa: Crow (Red)

The appointed house captains worked hard behind the scenes to prepare for the inaugural year. Amongst this was getting an Indigenous artist to commission artwork to represent our houses. We are extremely grateful to Kyya Nicolson-Ward from Djirringu Art who delivered some outstanding pieces which we believe are a perfect representation of us.

Students were able to earn points towards the house championship throughout the year. Points were awarded through Compass as students participated in school events, received students awards, upheld our school values, contributed to the community and displayed exemplary behaviour.

After a fantastic first year with the house system, Bunjil were crowned the 2024 House Champions. It was an extremely close finish with the lead changing multiple times until the final day. The final count was:

First place: Bunjil -2713 points
Second place: Waa – 2710 points
Third place Gurrng: Gurrng – 2595 points
Fourth place: Muk Muk – 2390 points.
